Infrastructure Victoria today marked the start of the 30-year infrastructure strategy update by opening the first phase of stakeholder and community consultation.
Infrastructure Victoria Chief Executive Officer Michel Masson said it’s important the 30-year infrastructure strategy – first released in December 2016 – continues to reflect the changing landscape of infrastructure in the State.
“Victoria’s first ever 30-year infrastructure strategy came together through a year-long conversation with Victorians about how we can create the best possible future for our state.
“A lot can change in the space of a few years, particularly with our population growing, technology evolving and many infrastructure projects underway.
“Updating the strategy is a great opportunity to delve even deeper into Victoria’s infrastructure challenges and solutions,” Mr Masson said.
From today Victorians are invited to provide feedback on the objectives for the strategy update.
“As a first step, we need to confirm the objectives to ensure everyone is on the same page with what the strategy is aiming to achieve,” Mr Masson said.
“We think the objectives we set in 2016 are still relevant, having been developed through extensive consultation.
“We want to know if Victorians think the objectives are still right and I encourage everyone to have their say and shape the strategy update right from the start,” Mr Masson said.
Feedback is open now via a simple survey on Infrastructure Victoria’s consultation website until 5pm Friday 3 August.
Infrastructure Victoria will be reviewing the 30-year strategy over the next 18 months and undertaking a program of work to inform its update.
“Through our research projects, ongoing engagement with stakeholders and community, and monitoring of infrastructure trends over the past few years, we have a strong evidence base to start the update to the next strategy,” Mr Masson said.
“We will be undertaking technical work and analysis, and of course extensive engagement with stakeholders and the community, over the next 18 months to help develop our recommendations to government.”
