Cummins to Supply Batteries for Altec’s Jobsite Energy Management System

Cummins Inc. announced that it will supply batteries for Altec’s Jobsite Energy Management System (JEMS) S/SE and LE zero-emission jobsite technology.

Powered by Cummins BM4.4E battery modules, JEMS technology is ideal for work applications that experience high engine idling at the jobsite. JEMS offers an emission-free jobsite, quiet operation and reduced fuel and maintenance costs.

The agreement highlights Cummins commitment to provide reliable alternative power and help customers transition to zero emissions.

“We have long been a provider of Cummins diesel engines and generators to Altec and we are thrilled to support their new JEMS S/SE and LE products with our advanced battery technology”,

said Brian Wilson, General Manager – Electrified Components at Cummins. “Quiet, emission-free jobsites are no longer a future vision, they are here right now and here to stay.”

The Cummins battery modules are constructed from lithium-ion cells, with each module rated at 4.4kWh of energy, operating at 44V. This battery system is capable of operation in open-framed vehicles, from small light utility vehicles, to larger on-highway vehicles and other mobile platforms. Cummins battery modules feature internal heat transfer plates to naturally dissipate heat in warm environments while internal heaters keep cells at optimal operating temperatures in the cold, allowing the batteries and JEMS to continue to perform in harsh winter and warm summer climates.

The goal of Altec’s JEMS idle mitigation technology is to significantly reduce idling at the jobsite to meet sustainability goals and idling regulations, and to improve the fleet’s operating budget through fuel and maintenance savings. The JEMS integrated plug-in system uses Cummins batteries to provide power at the jobsite for hydraulics (such as the PTO aerial device), jobsite tools, cab comfort (air conditioning and heat), and offers exportable power.

“We are delighted to work with Cummins on this program”, said Shawn Brougham, Altec’s Western Sales Manager.

They have a recognized name in the industry because they manufacture great products and support them well. We look forward to this teamwork that will deliver new value for owners and users of Altec equipment.
