CASE Construction Equipment had three new products/product groups—the B Series compact track loaders (CTLs) and skid steers, E Series compact vibratory rollers, and the 580 EV electric backhoe loader—named to Construction Equipment magazine’s 2020 Top 100.
Compiled based on editors’ reviews and nominations, the Top 100 awards are designed to recognize the top equipment of the year based on advances in technology, new product lines, significant improvements to existing products and increasing competition in the field.
More about the winning equipment:
B Series CTLs and Skid Steer Loaders
CASE introduced its next generation of compact track loaders and skid steers early in 2020 with the introduction of the B Series — five CTLs and eight skid steers spanning radial and vertical lift patterns, as well as numerous horsepower and size classes to provide contractors with the equipment choices best suited to their operation. New CASE B Series loaders feature a completely redesigned operator interface, including new left- and right-hand posts with simple ignition, push-button operation, easy throttle control and intuitive switches for all core machine functions.
An all-new eight-inch LCD multi-function display serves as the command center for the machine and includes the industry’s only backup camera visible in a split screen display with machine data. The camera is operational in both forward and reverse, and enhances the B Series’ industry-leading visibility with even greater jobsite perspective and awareness. It also provides operators with the most feature-rich operator experience ever found in a CASE CTL or skid steer, including new electro-hydraulic controls, “Creep Speed” functionality, an automotive-style information display with improved fault codes and troubleshooting, as well as Economy Modes to optimize fuel savings.
E Series Compact Vibratory Rollers
The E Series replaces the entire previous CASE compact vibratory roller line, and features a completely redesigned operator interface for intuitive operation and improved ergonomics. The right armrest features a new electronic travel lever with an extended range of functions right at the operator’s fingertips, including RPM settings, drive settings, sprinkler system controls, parking brake and more.
Available in both double drum and combination (front drum with rear pneumatic tires) configurations, these compact rollers are easy to transport and designed for working around tight quarters, curbs, structures and other obstacles. Designed with a high curb clearance, no overhangs and a narrow drum width from 39.4 to 54.3 inches depending on the model, the CASE E Series compact rollers are ideal for small- to mid-size compaction applications.
580 EV Electric Backhoe Loader
The CASE 580 EV is the construction industry’s first fully electric backhoe loader. The power and performance of the 580 EV is equivalent to other diesel-powered backhoes in the CASE product line and provides considerably lower daily operating costs while also producing zero emissions — a motivating factor for utility and government contractors incentivized to work with equipment that leverages alternative fuels and lowers emissions.
City governments and municipalities will also benefit from the elimination of emissions for working in urban environments and close to other buildings/people, as well as the reduced noise generated by the equipment.
The 580 EV is powered by a 480-volt, 90-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack charged by a 220-volt connection. While applications will vary, each charge will support most common eight-hour workdays for utility and public works operations. The battery separately powers the drivetrain and hydraulic motors, resulting in hydraulic breakout forces equal to diesel-powered machines and improved performance during simultaneous loader and drivetrain operation.
