The new Chafer Defender self-propelled sprayer, which offers all the benefits of its larger cousin the Interceptor but with reduced tank capacities and boom widths, will debut at Cereals 2019.
At the heart of the machine is a Bosch Rexroth hydrostatic drive train offering all the benefits of a CVT transmission allowing precise, infinitely variable control of each wheel motor, resulting in excellent field and road behaviour.
This advanced transmission features automatic dynamic traction force distribution, which compensates for changes in terrain, automatically adjusting each wheel motors displacement to give maximum traction and ensure hill climbing and descending are controlled at all times. Power for the Defender comes via a Deutz Tier 5 engine, offering 180hp, which is both fuel efficient and quiet.
The Defender has an extremely quiet and spacious New Holland forage harvester cab and load compensating axle air suspension on the machine keeps the operator comfortable in all conditions. All controls including a multifunction joystick are logically laid out in the operator console the position of which can be adjusted to suit the operator. Along with full climate control and multi-stage air filtration, the cab offers a large buddy seat complete with an optional refrigerated compartment.
The Defender has Chafer F-Series booms, either as twin folding 24m or triple folding at 27m, 28m and 30m widths. Independent tilt/variable geometry is fitted as standard while boom levelling with Chafer Contour or the latest Norac UC7 is optional. Booms can be specified with Duo React air controlled nozzle bodies which can accommodate Chafer Streambars or an additional spray nozzle, which can be switched from the cab.
The sprayer is fitted with stainless steel tanks in sizes from 3000 to 3500 litre, featuring internal baffles for stability and a stainless steel 600-litre clean water tank. A high capacity centrifugal pump ensures rapid tank filling at speeds of up to 850l/m.
All other options are the same as are available on our Interceptor and trailed machines with popular options such as our ePlumbing featuring on the majority of machines.
A high specification Chafer spray pack on the Defender incorporates many features already proven on the existing Interceptor and trailed sprayers, ensuring the new Defender is the most advanced option in the smaller sized self-propelled market.
